Realme GT 2 Explorer Master Edition debuts with travel-trunk design, SD Gen 8 Plus Gen 1

The successor to Realme’s first Explorer smartphone has arrived.

The Realme GT 2 Explorer Master Edition was launched in China, but this time, it was designed in collaboration with fashion designer Jae Jung instead of Naoto Fukasawa. The theme still revolves around travel, with this year’s model inspired by the classic travel trunk. The Wilderness version, in particular, includes aerometal flat edges, metal rivets, edge covers, and faux leather, though there are also two more options for minimalists.

The Realme GT 2 Explorer Master Edition may be going forward in fashion, but make no mistake, it’s also rich in features like the advent of flagship phones. This I really am is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 5G chip that includes up to 12GB of RAM and a maximum of 256GB of storage. The 8GB/128GB, 8GB/256GB, and 12GB/256GB variants are aggressive at a price of ¥ 3,499 (approximately P29,401 or $ 520), ¥ 3,799 (P31,922 or $ 565), and ¥ 3,999 (P33,603 or $ 595)respectively.

The company’s own X7 display chipset is debuting the device to optimize the 120Hz screen’s performance and power consumption. The 6.7-inch AMOLED panel supports touch-sampling rates of up to 1,000Hz.

Charging the 5,000mAh battery of the Realme GT 2 Explorer Master Edition should only take you about 25 minutes to charge from empty to full, thanks to fast-charging technology, the industry’s first 100-watt tech with GaN semiconductor material.

The top-of-the-line phone also boasts pressure-sensitive shoulder triggers, quad N28 active-antenna switching, a rear-camera system with a headline 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 OIS sensor, thin profile, and ultra-slim bezels.

Unfortunately the Realme GT 2 Explorer Master Edition has not landed on international shores, including the Philippines. But the brand said that “its limited release could bring out some technology or design concept that could be used to make products better in the future.”
