NADIA GANGRAPE & MURDER: CBI filed case against nine accused; political blame game on

The chargesheet was filed in the Court of Special Judge (POCSO court), Nadia against the nine accused.

“Nine people were named on the chargesheet,” an official said. According to CBI sources, the Investigation revealed that the minor victim was “confronted by the three accused after he got drunk”.

According to CBI sources, the victim’s family members were allegedly threatened by the three other accused by colluding with the main accused, preventing them from taking him to the hospital. He died the next day. The accused also allegedly immediately reported the corpse without giving the opportunity for medical examination.

On April 13, the CBI registered a case against the four accused and unidentified others in compliance with the Calcutta High Court order and took up the investigation into the case which was previously registered with the local police station.

The CBI investigation is ongoing, sources said. So far, eight people have been arrested.

Crime has rocked the state, where political parties are exchanging barbs. A BJP fact-finding committee that visited the area then submitted its preliminary report to the party’s national president JP Nadda, which featured that 27 rape cases had been registered within 20 days.

Now, after the CBI filed a chargesheet in the case, the war of words continues in the case.

In response to the tweets, a senior TMC leader said, “This is Bengal and that is why anyone involved in any kind of crime is dealt with under the law. It is not appropriate for BJP leaders to criticize us “We are not trying to protect the perpetrators. I want to know if the BJP wants to say a word about Uttar Pradesh, where rape cases from Hathras and Unnao have been reported.”
