Batanes is an island province that consists of ten islands that are located in the Luzon Strait, Batanes has a range of flora and fauna and one of the most free from pollution places in the Philippines. The province of Batanes is much known for its friendly locals and zero crime rate making the tourists feel safe when visiting.
Batanes is a very beautiful and the laidback ambiance makes it a very popular destination among foreigners and local tourists alike. Once you’re in Batanes you’ll really understand why its beauty and simplicity makes tourists come back for more.
1. Mt. Iraya
It is a 1008-meter volcano that last erupted some 400 years ago and it is also an important landmark that. Adventurous people will enjoy climbing this steep and heavily forested mountain. The forest is filled with flora and fauna that you will surely enjoy, don’t forget to bring your cameras.
2. Basco Cathedral
This church is one of the oldest churches in the province of Batanes. It was established in 1783. The Basco Cathedral is located right at the town’s capitol. If you enjoy some old architecture then this is the place for you because this church is very beautiful and truly a masterpiece.
3. Mahatao View Deck
The place is located just next to Mt. Iraya and the place is the ideal place for those photo ops. If you go to this place you can enjoy a wonderful view of the sea.
4. Burial Caves
The caves are located in the town of Itbayat and during the old days, human remains were placed in clay jars and left inside the caves. The place has a mysterious vibe and definitely a must see for you adventurous Indiana Jones fans out there.
5. Rolling Hills
A must see for you photo fanatics out there, because the place has a beautiful and fantastic scenery which includes hills that are lush with greenery.
The place is also called “Marlboro Country” the Payaman is a pasture that over-looks farm fields and the Pacific Ocean. A good place to visit because it has a peaceful and relaxed vibe to it and the place is just beautiful.
7. Cuyab Bird Watching
The place offers bird watching and the tourists can watch migratory birds from China that flock the islands in search of a warmer climate. A very beautiful sight to see If you are an animal lover like me.
8. Di-atay Beach
The beach is located just along the national highway between Mahatao and Ivana, Di-atay Beach. The beach has white sand beach and visitors can witness large waves crashing against rocks.
9. Spanish Bridge
The Bridge is located in middle of town and this is likely the oldest bridge in the entire province still used to date.
10. San Jose Obero Church
This is the only church in Batanes with a separate campanile and it was built in 1784 and the campanile was built in 1814-1817.
